Josh had a plan...

"I need to find a project to meet the needs of
the community and be one that can be completed with
boy power only... I want it to be big enough, yet
small enough to be completed successfully"

(time passes...)

At a event held at the local State park, Josh
is introduced to the park ranger, and after
exchangeing
howdy-do's inquires:

"Say.. Would you be interested is haveing a Nature
trail developed for use by the public?"

Ranger Carl replied..

"Lot's of things we would want have to wait for
volenteers to help us in this era of limited funding"

16 year old Josh followed up:

"Well, I would think that your day use area would
benifit from a marked nature course, identifying the
various trees and plants, ...I have a intrest in that
myself and could facilitate a small project to your
specifications with Scout labor and donated resources"

Ranger Carl smiled...

"Well, if you wanted to work up a proposal, show
me a sample of what you had in mind.. I would
entertain the notion of what you proposed"

Josh: "Yessir! How about... later today?"

Thus began Josh Wheeler Eagle Scout project.

Josh indeed went back that day with a writen proposal
that was reviewed and accepted by the State park.
He had his Eagle packet signed off by Ranger Carl and
put togather a presentation to the Troops adult parent
committe last night July 16th 2001.

Josh entered the room with a set of transparencies and
a overhead projector and handed out a photocopied
brochure containing a powerpoint presentation.

The people sat back and waited...

30 min's later, after selling his project with
confidence and humor, eye contact and poise...

Josh recived approval, and the heartfelt endorcement
of the parents of troop 328! He inspired them to see
their sons stand and delever a simular presentation,
and to the side...

Josh's Dad beamed with pride at the emergeing young
man! Josh is FCF Buckskin "Whiteriver" and GMA #3911
