Hello,
I'm Josh GMA 3911

I'v been in Royal Rangers for about 11 years, I also am a Boy Scout with
the rank of life work towards my Eagle Badge.
I have found over the years as Sr. Guide and as Jr. Commander that
there seems to be a "Gap" or a distance between the boys on one side you
have the "exelent, courageous, loyal, curtious, out doers!" and on the
other side you have the slackers, goof/show-offs, the boys that their mom
instead of showing interest drops her boy off then goes to Sears for "Half
off all inventory sale" and might show up 10-15min early to pick-up her
kid maby in the middle of devotion or 30min late when the janitor cleaning
up the room! in any case the gap seems to be getting bigger and not
smaller as your "Perfect outpost" goes on. I know that it is easier to
focus your energy all over the misfits and misbehaviors in your outpost
and not the boys that strive for your "good job" and thus get "moody." You
see as being a GMA and having to redo the program when we switched from
old method to Gold track I paid more attention to the requirements and I
found that if all you do is the requirements with your commander you
really don't need a leadership position, you can really go through the
program without being a "team player."
It is disheartning when a good boy leaves because it wasn't "right"
for him. What we need to do as leaders is use those boys as examples and
give those boys serious jobs in the outpost so that they have to interact
with the other boys and what will happen if you do this is that your "good
boys" will change the attitudes of the others so that the others will want
behave to get the "EARNED" respect and privilages that the "out-doers"
deserve.
Remember: Yor biggest fans are the one YOU aren't yelling at, the ones
YOU don't notice, the ones YOU sign their books five, Six, SEVEN times a
night! their your resource USE THEM don't let others USE YOU!

Thankyou
GMA #3911
