Mark.RangerNet.org should be available within 24 hours-- assuming his server stays up. (I just corrected my typo-- just one digit of an IP address makes a big difference.)
The RangerNet web site is already on the new server. It is working except for the CGI scripts (counters and subscription page). The subscription page will be obsolete quickly.
We will be moving the mailing list from the Majordomo mailing list manager on eBible.org to Mailman running on the new RangerNet.org server. (RangerNet.org is actually sharing the server with several other web sites.)
Benefits:
1. Lower cost.
2. More automatic operation for me.
3. Easier handling of people who don't know what address they are subscribed at.
4. More friendly operation for you.
5. A moderator won't actually be required-- as long as you honor the Ranger Code and Golden Rule.
#3 is more common than you might think. :-) I just dealt with a very angry person spamming me with hate mail because she subscribed at something like [EMAIL PROTECTED], then tried very hard to unsubscribe [EMAIL PROTECTED] (which wasn't subscribed, but turned out to be an equivalent address).
You may get welcome messages again. If you happen to try to subscribe or unsubscribe during the time I'm moving the list, you might have to do it again on the new server. If my Internet connection dies while I'm doing this, the list might go down. Don't worry... my Internet connection usually doesn't go down more than a week or so at a time. :-)
RangerNet will be the first list to be moved. It will be the "guinea pig" for the others...
