Well the other day I went through my religious backup proceedure. At the end of it ... it failed. Hum.... I went a few days to try it again. It failed again.... the computer started locking up when ever there was disk activity... ran diaognostics... bad sectors... fixed them all. A few days later.. lockup again... bad sectors again. Then double checked my backup status 3 weeks old on the whole system backup and had other protected data on other systems. Tried to shut down all and go into survival mode to rescue data on failing hard drive. In process all I got was a blinking cursor for 3 retries. The next morning still no good. Dropped by the office supply and picked up a new 120 gig hardrive 'on sale'... and unplugged the old drive and installed nortons rescue disk and walllaaa...the whole system all programs and settings backup and running again then reinstalled protected data and were set. Total down time was very short. Norton System Works Premeire is a good value.

Last time I had to do a whole system reset it took me about 3 weeks to get it all back together again. That was loading each program doing its setup and registrations..etc.

Why do I share this with you? I have met tooooo many folk that have lost all their hard earned work due to a hard drive crash and no backup system in place. It can take years to build up good outpost records, flyers, maps, contacts and it can all be gone in a flash of a cursor. Get er done! GRIN!

I use a removeable hardrive as my backup system. I installed the same setup at church with 3 hard drive rotations.
