We've had a few of #3 (shy) boys. One in peticular had a low self esteem and kind of awkward thus very shy. We would make sure that he was involved in the activities in one way or another and gave him a lot of praise. By the time he was in Trailblazers (old program) he dropped out. We would see him once in a while. Asked how he was doing and told him we always supported him. When he got into high school, he started to go to Youth. Long story short, he struggled for a while and is now on fire for the Lord and is doing well. I help out in Youth and he still refers to me as Commander. I would say, what we poured into him as a child helped him as a yong adult. Geno Plares O.P. #178 NCAL/NEV San Jose, CA. Jose Rodriguez <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Fellow CMDRS,
Since this Pope/antichrist topic doesn't appear to be very popular here, lets talk about something else (unless the majority of you what to continue the antichrist topic): Let's discuss how each of us as Commanders deal with different types of boys in our outpost: Let me make a list (feel free to add more): 1. The boy who wants attention: This boy is like the class clown, doesn't take anything/anyone seriously including the commander. 2. The over affecionate boy: This boy likes to hug A LOT, probably due to a lack of a male father figure or male role model in general. 3. The shy boy: This boy doesn't participate with any of the other boys, likes to be by himself. 4. The I'm-better-than-them boy: This boy feels superior to the other boys and just like #3 doesn't like hanging out with the rest of the boys. 5. The I don't like rangers boy: This boy doesn't seem to enjoy rangers in general. Commanders have difficulty keeping his interest in the activities going on. 6. The peculiar boy: This boy is acts in a afeminie manner and is teased by other boys because of it. So how do you guys deal with any or some of these types of boys during meetings (use the numbers when answering). BTW: just incase some of you guys/gals are wondering (I know I would) these examples that I have shown are not all from my outpost, I mean sure we have one or two of these types of boys in our outpost but not all. The example are from stories from other commanders I have spoken to from different outpost. Some of these examples are also from past rangers. However you never know if in the future you might end up with some of these "cases" which is why I thought this would be a helpful topic. So any ideas? _______________________________________________ Jesus Christ is LORD! To send mail to everyone on the RangerNet mailing list, send it to <[email protected]>. Only list members may post.
