*I deeply enjoyed NBC Dateline w/Stone Phillips as they video taped a group of Christians praying over a man beleved to be demon possessed... I found it straigt forward and handled with dignity and respect for those involved... *Yes the man claims to be delivered!
Next they showed a reporter who followed the trail to some real downhome "backwoods" HolyRoller snake handlers.. *This segment was great- While I never fiddled with vipers or drank poision in church myself... I grew up hear'n about such folk. The way the presentation was handled, was again with *respect and dignity to the participants. Respectfully, the reporter joined in the praise and worship service and took time to seek the deeper meaning claimed as gospel truth by this branch of kindred belevers. The music was 'ol time foot- 'stomp'n 'power in the blood tunes.. *Just the way I like'em... The "signs and wonders" came as folks danced "in the spirit" and the faithful migrated over to the snake box, marked: JESUS SAVES A "Handler" there would size you up... and in the case of the reporter hand you a BIG RATTLER! The snakes head was free to to hiss and snort as you held 'em high in praise to the Power of God's word. The reporter said he could feel the snakes muscular makeup and shift of weight as it coiled.. but he felt drawn into a white room as he gave himself over the to total faith in God's holy word. Other faitful were covered in many snakes or danced with several held high above or looked into the eyes of the vipers! The reporter shared that many "snake handle'rs" had been bitten many times and over 75 had died a painfull death, as often they refuse medical treatment. (*personal note: I remain encouraged that NO poision snakes live on the wet side of the Cascade mountians in Oregon) A#1 _______________________________________________ The Golden Rule is my daily rule.
