How I wish that were true! MANY Ranger outposts do NOT get help or funding from their churches. Sometimes they may get an occassional donation from a former leader or something similar but all too often they get nothing. I've even seen church services that were dedicated to the Rangers in that church but the offering taken that night was NOT given to the outpost - not even shared with them! And some of the outposts I'm speaking of are gradually shutting down because of it! They are trying everything they can to stay above board but are hanging on by a thread. And for the record - I do NOT blame this on youth, on Children's Pastors, or on girls not being allowed (the Missionattes in the churches I'm thinking of get the same treatment) - as far as I'm concerned the fault lies squarely on the shoulders of the MALES (they sure aren't MEN) from the pastor to the elders/board right down to the man who drops his boy off at Rangers and leaves to go to the bar down the street. The Ranger commanders are funding the outpost out of their pockets - they can't even get support with fundraisers....... This story may be bit encouraging and I remember listening to this on the radio last year. Scouts sell $28,000 of popcorn in booth near ACLU Virginia Headquarters. Last year their fundraiser brought in less than $300. Keep in mind Ranger programs are supported by churches and receive a built in support network with that church body. We have it easy at our churches. Any association/ company having anything to do with the scouts is being sued. They can't even find places to meet in some instances. popcorn article: http://www.timesdispatch.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RTD/MGArticle/RTD_Ba sicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1031779729194 -E _______________________________________________ The Golden Rule is my daily rule.
