*Wow..
Not for years have I had the experiance of "being gotten" so well..
*Let's not get hung up.. defending a fine uniform.. for as a Scouter and a
Ranger, *I have reason to know both deserve respect and care..
Fact#1.. The scout uniform has zero pins.. *mostly (years of scouting ect)
The "reason" may be that like... my US Navy uniform it is
ment
to be folded, and packed along in a sea bag or back pack. It
travels
well.. Because, YOU travel<G>
A boy.. needs a solid uniform that has a chace of survival in a game, or in
a camp sight with greasy food, pitchy trees and ground in dirt<G>
*Remember, however.. Scouts and Scouters are NOT soldiers.. or
Para-military~
*Tho- .... they do make great recruits for the military, because of
teamwork and
the "spirit of the Patrol"..
IF YOUR RANGERS STRUGGLE TO WEAR THEIR UNIFORM, IT ISN'T THEIR FAULT!
*It's not the Uniforms fault or the "fault" of the National Staff!
FACT! .The "Fault" lays with implimentation of the "Patrol spirit" and the
desire of the boy to
"Join" the Outpost.. "Membership" is more than showing up to a great
meeting led by a nice
man. "Membership" means that given all choices availible to a boy.. *He
chooses to "Join
in the game" called Royal Rangers.
In my humble.. (and modestly qualifyed) opinion..
That sir- is why BUNDSCAMP has US Rangers beat.
*They have found a JOY... that is lacking in our Outposts<G>

You know what strikes me about Bundescamp? (Duane alluded to it too).
When
I was in the Boy Scouts long ago, there was no focus at all on uniforms
looking really good. They were purely functional. They were for the
field
and not especially for dress. No one hung them on hangers in the tent to
keep them pressed while they were out hiking. Every boy, including me,
wanted one. I don't think any of the scouts in my troup preferred a new
uniform over an old one-you'd just have to break it in. "A boy's work is
play" and it was the uniform for a boy's work. Maybe it's just my
impression, but it seems there's a lot more pomp affiliated with a Ranger
uniform than there was with the scout uniform I used to wear.
The scout uniform I wore as a kid was all about adventure. The Ranger
Uniform I wear now I still about that, but it seems to be a lot more about
honor and ceremony and the responsibility of looking just so than the
scout
uniform was. Maybe that's just a result of our local Ranger
culture...maybe
it's just me. I know I have a lot of trouble getting some boys to wear
them.

Look at

*Near sighted rangers allways try to 'shellac my tailfeatherz over
mis- comunication... In the end they say *Love it or leave..
Bundscamp shows the utter folly of such think'n..
*Walk around Bundscamp in yur finest military creased uniform..
Let those LTC medals and various other gee-gws shine in the summer sun..
Wave that flag... 'show'em yur PRIDE!
...then take a breath and look around Bundscamp-
It ain't NOTHING like a US Ranger event.
It is however, what I felt about ROYAL RANGERS way back...
*It's good...
