Duane,
I'm not sure what you meant by "this is going to bug you", but you're right.

As I said in my first post, I was struck by his preocupation with the
superficial appearances of relationships. On the one hand, Ryan's preocupation
with focusing on and modeling the superficial might just be a characteristic of
his chosen vocation (theater and acting). On the other hand, he was always
just acting--certainly in his church--maybe even in family relationships. I
wonder if the acting is just something he enjoys doing or if it is a sign of a
shallow affect compensated for by an intelligent, calculated study of what human
emotion looks like and how it acts.

Maybe its a defensive front put up from years of hiding unseen, but painfully
real emotions. I don't know.

I was once told that God created men and women with different emotional needs
and physicial responces so that a degree of selflessness would be required to
please each other physically. If each required the same stimulation as the
other, then they would please each other with purely self-centered motives.

*I can tell this is going to bug you... and young Ryan
Paulson will push you to react. *Choose to respond
with peace and love to his "theatrical exploitations"

God is greater and we are anchored deep in a safe harbor.

I found this web site on the internet the last night:
www.ryanpaulson.com
He grew up in an AG church in Wisconsin. He went to church and Sunday School
with his parents. He went to youth activities and Royal Rangers on Wednesday
nithts. He went to rallys. He went to camp. He went on a missions trip to El
Salvadore.
Then, he decided he was "gay."
He's now out of the church (way out). He's into theatrical stuff and he has an
audio podcast blog that he uses to put down The Assemblies of God, the Holy
Spirit, and Christians in general.
His descriptions of the Christian experience focus on the superficial of the
lives of Christians as though it were the substance. He went along for the
ride but just never "got it". He's now living his life in a way that makes
sense to him. I expect we'll be seeing him on national TV before long.
