JOB OPPORTUNITY
RESEARCH ASSISTANT
The World Bank Office Jakarta is managing a research
study reviewing the
extent and ways in which social and community driven
development
programs can help resolve local conflicts in
Indonesia. The study
explores whether the organizational and civic skills
acquired by
villagers participating in the Kecamatan Development
Project (KDP) carry
over to the successful management of local conflicts.
The study has been ongoing for eighteen months and a
large amount of
data has been collected. A research assistant is
required to help with
the management and analysis of this data.
The contract would be for 100 days from the beginning
of February to the
end of June, 2004. A daily rate and a per diem (when
traveling) will be
paid.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
. Bachelors degree
. Experience managing data: filing, data entry,
etc
. Experience with computer programs (including
word and excel)
. Experience analyzing research data (qualitative
and quantitative)
. Fluency (written and spoken) in Indonesian and
English
. Ability to work independently and in a team, and
to work to tight
deadlines
In addition to the above criteria, the following
qualifications/experiences are preferable:
. Experience at qualitative research/ethnographic
fieldwork
. Experience working on social development and/or
conflict issues
(for
government, NGO or international organization)
. Translation experience
. Experience editing reports
Availability Requirements
Applicants must be available for work full-time
between February and
July, 2004.
