Tahun lalu barusan Tokyo Electron (TEL) membuat anak perusahaan baru bernama TEL PhotoVoltaic (TELPV), bekerja sama dengan SHARP Corp. TEL PV ini akan membuat mesin produksi thin film PV ini dengan metode CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition). Perkembangan solar energi ini terhambat salah satunya karena susahnya untuk dapat supply Silikon karena dipakai untuk memori dan CPU.
