Nepenthes pitopangii Newspec. from Lore Lindu N.Park, Central
Sulawesi, Indonesia

In 1942 When was seven years old as a second grade village school kid
in West Sumatra I had a habit to explore our surrounding village. The
picture of this Nepenthes pitopangii Newspec. remided me to a plant
we called "Kumbuak Hantu" [I loosely translate it as "Ghost Kettle" or
"Ghost Tea Pot"]. With my peer group I enjoyed going to Bonjo Baru a
knoll or hillock ["guguak"] east side of the Village of Biaro, Agam
Tuo, West Sumatra, to look for the Kumbuak Hantu and drank its water.
The size of our Kumbuak Hantu is about 12-15cm x 3-4cm. I would like
to ask a question to Dr. Pitopang if our Kumbuak Hantu in West Sumatra
is about the same as Nepenthes pitopangii Newspec. found in Sulawesi.
Thank you.
