Hey guys,
I'm proud to announce that we have a public build now [1]. As you might know we
built RAP on the EclipseSource servers in the past. As a result only
EclipseSource people had the rights to configure our builds. Since last night
we have a public build at the Eclipse.org Hudson. Please note that we want to
use this build for productive use when Indigo is done. For Indigo we don't want
to risk to break the release. Therefore we will run the remaining Indigo builds
on the EclipseSource servers.
Anyway, the eclipse.org Hudson builds are clones of the original builds with
small infrastructure related changes. Because we will use them for our real
builds in the future it would be good to know a few things ;)
- We have two Hudson jobs. One for the tooling and one for the runtime. The
jobs can be found here:

- Every RAP committer has the right to configure the build. Please, only
configure the build when you know what you are doing ;)
- Because every committer has the right to configure the build, you can add
yourself to the Email list to get build messages e.g. for failing builds. You
will find this email list on the bottom of each configuration.
- Everyone, not only RAP committers, can now access the nightly builds via the
job links.
- The eclipse.org Hudson only supports Java 1.5 and 1.6. As a result we build
RAP with 1.5 on this Hudson now. This will not harm because we plan to move to
1.5 in the Juno timeframe. So, start to using this build in production for Juno
will be the best choice I guess.
- The builds use the sources from CVS HEAD and can be configured via build
properties. So, as a committer you have also the right to run a build. When you
like to build against a specific CVS branch or tag you can do this by pressing
the "Build now" button and set the CVS_TAG property in the upcoming web form.
- At EclipseSource we have an internal build documentation. Before the
eclipse.org hudson build will be used productively we will publish this
documentation to our RAP Wiki. I opened bug 345380 for this task [2].
