Turns out that the inability to download ORF files with exiv2 on 64 bit machines was fixed in exiv2 version 0.19. Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit uses exiv2 version 0.18 handing on the seg fault problem to pyexiv2 and finally to rapid-file-downloader. Hopefully, using exiv2 version 0.19 will fix the inability to use rapid to download Olympus raw files (ORF) on a 64 bit system.
