Thanks ... I think this was the old Canon output format but was not raw material. Renaming to tiff appears my best option; maybe somebody can steer me on the right path for this.
All my files are in a number of sub-folders under ~/Pictures. Can someone advise the recursive call to hunt out and change all of the tif files to tiff? If I can do this in a single crack it will save hours of fussing.
