I found the problem...

Somehow, my dns client list had 127.0.0.1 for the first entry, looks
like razor won't go to the next DNS server in the search list.  Since
this particular linux box isn't running BIND locally, dns lookups failed
with razor but every other app worked fine because they would go to the
next entry, which was a valid dns server.

I removed 127.0.0.1 from the dns list and razor was able to find a
server :)

It's not resolving here either, but I have the following IP in my 
servers.discovery.lst: 216.52.3.2.  The reverse lookup shows 
agony.cloudmark.com.
