sa-learn, SpamAssassin's own Bayesian implementation, does use headers. Also, spamassassin -r will restore any changes to the subject.


But most importantly, recent versions of SpamAssassin will, by default, create a new message with the original as an attachment. spamassassin -r recognizes this and only passes the attached original message to razor-report, sa-learn, pyzor, dcc, etc.

Apparently, the SpamAssassin people smoke a lot of crack. Or they're
getting paid some marginal fraction of a cent each time someone
invokes "spamassassin", so they encourage unnecessary usage.

No, they're just dealing with a different style of message markup and additional tools (aside from just Razor).
