As with pretty much all services the return traffic occurrs on an unpriviliged port, 1024-65535. So the communication for razor would look like
your system, port >1024 connect to razor port 7
your system, port >1024 connect to razor port 2703

What you probably need to do is open up incoming traffic that looks like this:

source IP: 0/0 source port: 7 destination IP: your servers IP address destination port: 1024 to 65535
source IP: 0/0 source port: 2703 destination IP: your servers IP address destination port: 1024:65535

Hope that helps,

Nathan

ah, would that be why I get "no razor discovery servers available at this
time" ?
I'd not spotted any incoming traffic getting blocked at my firewall, but
maybe I didn't look all that hard.
I'd like to know the answer myself !
Jim.

Subject: [Razor-users] Incoming ports

A quick question. :) The FAQ says:

-----------------------
Q: I have a firewall. What ports do I need to open in order for
  Razor2 to work?

Outgoing TCP port 2703 (Razor2) and TCP port 7 (Echo).
Razor2 uses TCPpings to discover what servers are closest to it.
-----------------------

But what incoming ports do I need to open? It seems to come in on 2400 and
upward. Is there a known range?

Thanks!

- Mark
