Can anyone tell me how razor-check communicates with a Razor Catalogue Server and checks mail against the distributed Razor Catalogue? Is the message being sent to catalogue server and then has its signature checked against the database? I am kind of confused by this, I do not seem to find an explanation on this part anywhere. Please explain to me how this checking part works.
razor-check calculates the signature(s), then sends only the signature to the server. The server then responds, letting razor-check know whether the signature matched.
AFAIK, the only time a message is sent to the razor server is when you actually *report* spam, and then only if Razor doesn't already have a copy. (IIRC, the reason it does this is to be able to generate new signatures from different parts of the message, in order to work around spam that adds random noise to an otherwise identical pitch.)
