Is anyone using a RBGXE compiled app, with SEVERAL disconnects / connects
within the app seeing difficulties in re-connecting to the database?
RBGXE, multi user environ, just migrated 3 bus days ago from 9.5 64-bit.
In each command file I disconnect from the DB prior to returning to RFF (main
menu). Each command file connects at start of code. All working in this
scenario since version 7.6 in a compiled application. However, since migrating
to RBGXE, my apps do NOT reconnect to the database via straight forward:
IF (CVAL('DATABASE')) <> 'DBNAME' OR (CVAL('DATABASE')) IS NULL THEN
CONNECT DBNAME
ENDIF
Tracing the code I find it will not re-connect, hence, no programs run.
I've unloaded/re-loaded the DB a couple of times, zero errors, fully optimized
DB.
CHARS all check out fine
Before I go through my 100 or so command files and remove all
disconnects/re-connects in the compiled app, I though I'd check with you all.
Would appreciate if anyone else uses the scenario descibed above in their
compiled apps - are you having any issues re-connecting to the DB?
Thank you!

Subject: RE: [RBASE-L] - maybe a problem with EEPs
Patti,
What version are you using? I keep all my EEPs stored within the form and I
would not think of storing them outside the form and I have not for a while
now; it keeps the application pretty clean with no outside files cluttering the
application directory. I made the conversion when storing EEPS with the form
became available and never looked back. When I have code that needs to be run
from several forms I simply store it in a table within the database and I can
call that code from anywhere within the application including forms by using
the RUN SELECT command. I prefer to keep the number of outside files associated
with the application as small as possible.
As far as your issue, if you are storing your EEPs externally, they will
continue to be listed under you control but is does not mean they are present
or accessible, it simply me4nas that is what you are trying to call but
apparently not finding it.
I apologize if maybe I am not be understanding exactly what your issue is;
perhaps is you can post some screen shots it could help…I believe we can now
post screen shots…although I have not tied it yet myself.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - maybe a problem with EEPs
Hello,
I have a form that asks lots of questions. For about 12 of the variables, I
have EEPs that are supposed to run. All the eep files are there in the
directory. When I look at my Object List, there are blue stars under the EEP
column for all those variables.
But when I look at my Object Property, for each variable, there are no EEPs
listed. And they don't seem to be working, either. Was there some other place
to look for them? If they disappeared, why does Object List tell me they are
there?
I packed the database and there is no change.
