John:
Thank you very much. Appreciate this list and your efforts SO much.
Regarding "just enough" relevant context. Is reply to nested replies
acceptable (the entire conversation), or is truncation preferred?

Dear R:BASE Community:
RBASE-L is the official users group (list serv) for application
developers and users of R:BASE. This users group is to be used for all
productive exchanges between members to discuss R:BASE topics related to
programming, application development, technical issues, and the like.
The RBASE-L Users Group is managed and provided by R:BASE Technologies,
Inc.
http://www.rbase.com
<http://www.rbase.com/>Please read the following, use as a guide for the
creation of efficient and effective messages to other R:BASE users and
developers.
Posting Messages
================================
* Send messages to: [email protected]
* In the message Subject, add a short heading that describes the feature
or issue you are writing about. Use a clear subject, that helps a reader
determine whether your message is of interest to him or her.
* Use your real name, not a "screen name" or "handle," and use both your
first name and last name in your email "from" settings.
* Suppress from adding long multi-line message "signatures" to messages.
This includes embedded images and confidentiality disclaimers.
* Do not mark messages to users group as "high priority." For most
people receiving messages, direct personal business mail is always a
higher priority than bulk mail. As important as your message may seem to
you at the time, users group are, in reality, distributing bulk mail.
* If you want to share files with the group, attachments (screen
capture) can be included with the message. Otherwise, direct members to
a Web page from which they can download it, or ask them to email you
directly, off the users group, personal requests.
* Do not configure your email client to ask for a receipt for messages
sent to the users group.
* Do not enable an auto-responder to user group messages.
* Regarding replies, quote back enough of a preceding message to orient
readers to the context. Quote just enough to set the context. Not all
readers retrieve messages at the same frequency, nor do their email
readers sort messages in the same order. Do not assume everyone will
know what message you are responding to.
Etiquette and Guidelines
================================
Behaviors that are NOT acceptable on the RBASE-L Users Group are as
follows, but not limited to:
* Message postings of bugs or requests for new features. Although
discussing those items on the users group is a great way to discuss
details regarding issues, and the overall usefulness of feature
requests, you must use the R:BASE Developers' Corner Crew (RDCC). From
within the R:BASE program, select "Help" > "R:DCC Client" from the main
menu bar. If you do not have a login profile, select "New User" to
create one.
* Exchanges of subjects that are personal attacks, or messages that are
deemed to be offensive by R:BASE Technologies, Inc. or the list manager.
* Advertising by any member related to their personal organizations or
business affiliations. While we invite the formation of avenues to help
spread the word about R:BASE, this is not the place to solicit for
recruitment. R:BASE Technologies, Inc. will also respect this rule by
limiting its advertisements to periodically posting messages of sales
events or new product releases. We do not intend to use, or have the
RBASE-L Users Group used, as a device for spam. If anyone wishes to
contact R:BASE Technologies, Inc. directly about an event that they are
organizing, we will be happy to construct an official announcement on
their behalf.
* Solicitation or advertising for any services or the availability to
provide development work. Those seeking developers for programming may
inquire to be contacted off the users group.
* Disclosure of any information, which was intended to be a private
correspondence, between two or more individuals who are members of this
users group. If a message was sent privately, it was intended to be so,
and the RBASE-L Users Group will not be a billboard for personal
disputes.
* Any forms of retaliation or insubordination that is exhibited against
either R:BASE Technologies, Inc., or any other member of this forum.
Members carrying out any of the above actions will result in a loss of
privileges to use the RBASE-L Users Group.
================================
The goal of the RBASE-L Users Group is to provide a productive and
informative environment for any person wishing to participate, to
discuss their R:BASE-related achievements, experiences, and other
information that is relevant to the R:BASE subject. This forum is open
to all who abide by the rules that are in place, which are designed to
protect the rights of the entire group, not just a particular
individual.
To unsubscribe, refer to links at the bottom of each posted message,
where instructions are provided.
We hope you find membership to the RBASE-L Users Group useful!
Thank you and best regards,
John Minyo II
