A long time ago I had corruption in our live main database and no one,
including me could connect. I was using a DB password but it would not
work. I was about to go back to the previous days backup and lose 80
people's 6 hours of work when I tried RScope. It could not find or fix the
problem until I noticed I could change the password in RScope. I changed
it to public and then exited Rscope and then anyone could connect.

I don't know if that will help but it would be worth trying.
