Somehow the RBG95 exe file got wiped out. So I cannot connect to any DB, not just the corrupted one. It maybe that the .rx1 (rb1) file is corrupt. If you have a good copy of the #1 file you could just try coping #1 file to replace the corrupted one. It goes without saying make sure you make a copy of the database and work on that one. You will have to do RBSYNC and then if able to connect do a reload. You will may get errors that row counts don’t match but that should be ok. Now on the reloaded database (assuming you were able to connect to start with) do a PACK. I use to run into that a lot when I was at Pitt, because of that I created a Windows Scheduled Task that would open R:Base and then connect to the database if everything appeared to be ok I would copy #1 file to a backup area that was which had a folder for each hour. Those following the post know our company has had some problems with DB corruption due to our IT company doing patches on the sever during normal business hours. They claim to have fixed this problem. However this morning at 5:45 am (the same time period our last problem occurred) we had another crash. Our IT company has not responded yet but here is what I am asking from your collective experience. I checked the DB with RSCOPE and found the SYS_TABLES and SYS_COLUMNS views have been corrupted. Also I cannot even access RBASE at all. It is like the computer does not see the program files themselves. Windows comes up with the box saying I need to find another app to open the files. When looking on either my own computer C drive or the server drive the DB files no longer show the RBASE icon associated with either 9.5 or XE. So when the IT people finally get things fixed, do you think I will need to reinstall RBASE? Or do you think a server restart will do the trick. I am trying to think in advance so I am prepared.
