Jan,

The best approach to understand and view the external (other) database structure, is to use the Database Explorer's Utilities option.

01. Start RBGXE or RBGX5E and CONNect to R:BASE database.

02. Database Explorer > Main Menu > Utilities > Connect SQL Data Source ...

    Once connected successfully ...

03. Database Explorer > Main Menu > Utilities > Attach SQL Database Tables

This is where you will see the list of all tables and views

While SATTACHing, you will have the option to attach that table as:

    . Attach As Alias
    . Attach As Temporary
    . Attach USING ALL

Once SATTACHed successfully, you can review everything and then write a command file to accomplish the exact same task automatically.

That's all there is to it!

To further understand and automate the entire process, take a close look at the R:BASE Super Advanced Training Sample Applications (Part 5):

Application: R:BASE for Everyone (Integrating R:BASE X.5 Enterprise (Version 10.5) with ODBC Compliant Databases)

Have fun!

Group,

I haven't really had the need to utilize these commands until now.
I need to connect to an Access DB (mdb).

I can SCONNECT to it no problem.
However how to SATTACH to the internal tables if you have no idea what
the Access structure is or what the table names are?
