As I mentioned, my developer buddy (SJ) was looking at my files and he had a few suggestions for me to try -- ONE OF WHICH WORKED!!!! Believe it or not, the problem was RBase putting quotation marks around the text values! Manually removing the quotations marks and importing worked perfectly! So something changed in the 2020 QB version. This should be easy to fix! Yeah interesting! Looks like SDK is the way to go. Their explanation of the new "validation" process is accurate, their error file is very descriptive. With the old version there was no feedback at all, however our IIF files never once failed. And it's funny how even Intuit themselves is recommending the "import it for me and I'll fix it later". I just can't imagine users being happy that they have to go in and manually make corrections to maybe hundreds of imported rows, one at a time. I'm crossing my fingers... a developer buddy of mine says he uses Excel to bring RBase data into QB, but he uses the Online version which I guess is quite different from the Desktop version that we are using and he doesn't import the type of transactions that I am. But he's taking a look at the Excel file that I used (and failed). So I'm hoping he'll spot something! A shallow dive into the QB forum on IIF header formats shows that those samples are more than a decade old and one frustrated user says he cannot even import an IIF file that was Exported from QB. The culprit in his example is that the column description character length is inaccurate so the import fails, further on that example site, QB states they won't provide any support help for the import or export of said IIF files.
