Tip of the Day: Automated Column Hints in Forms

Did you know column comments/descriptions can be automatically
assigned as that field's hint in forms?
The added COLUMN_COMMENT_AS_CTRL_HINT parameter was added to the
PROPERTY APPLICATION command syntax options, which specifies that
(table and field) form controls will be assigned the field's
comment as the hint (at runtime).
Syntax:
PROPERTY APPLICATION COLUMN_COMMENT_AS_CTRL_HINT ON
The default is OFF. If a control has an existing hint, the hint
will not be updated.
The benefits include:
. a central repository for all column-driven hints
. consistency of the hints throughout a system
. saves time in assigning hints for form controls
. accents the reward of using column comments/descriptions
