Tip of the Day: Loading an Import/Export Specification File
Product.......: R:BASE X.5 and R:BASE X.5 Enterprise (Version 10.5)
Build.........: 10.5.2.20604 or higher
Sections......: Gateway
Keywords......: Import, Export, Specification File, .RGW

Did you know the a new "Load From File..." button was added to the File
Gateway to allow for loading an import/export specification file not in
the current folder?

When used, the contents of the file is loaded and applied to the wizard
and the Specifications dialog is closed. With the new implementation, it
is expected that the contents will be modified (at least the source).
After the expected modifications, the specification file can be saved to
the current folder and given an alternative name (using the "Save As New"
button).

The Specifications dialog was updated with clearer button text as well:

Load Selected - loads the selected specification file options
Delete Selected - deletes the selected specification file
Save To Selected - saves the current options to the selected file
Save As New - saves the current options to a new specification file
Load From File - loads a specification file from a folder.

Note that "Load From File" does not add that file to the list of items.
The contents of the file is loaded and applied to the wizard and the
Specifications is closed.

The specifications are stored in files with the .RGW file extension.
The specification file will store the options for type, source file,
fields, settings, and more.

Also, when using the GATEWAY IMPORT and GATEWAY EXPORT commands, the
SPECIFICATION_FILE_NAME parameter is available to load the prepared
specifications.

The availability of Specification Files for import/export operations
is a time-saving feature to easily pre-load the many options from
previous File Gateway processes!

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
