Again, the goal was to change the color of a DBEdit field based on the contents
in the field.

A thank you goes out to: Jan, Jim, Buddy and Ken Shapiro over the phone.

Issue one was that the DBEdit field was Read Only. Changing colors would not
work in that state.

Solution:

● Turned off ‘Read Only’ Then changed the opening of the form from Edit using
‘form name’ to Bro using ‘form name’. The fields are not changeable.

● Added a form variable: TEXT vLockBox = RCLockBox in HouseDetail where
PropertyIDxx = PropertyIDxx and limit = 1

● Added an EEP in the ‘On After Start’

IF (IFNULL(.vlockbox,'N',.vlockbox)) = 'Y' THEN

  PROPERTY cilockbox COLOR 'green'

ELSE

  PROPERTY cilockbox COLOR 'red'

ENDIF

RETURN

Again – thanks for the help!!

Myron

Well I did a simple test on a DB Edit field where ON ENTRY changed and ON EXIT
changed, so I know it works.

Myron,

Just out of curiosity, are you using themes?

Subject: [RBASE-L] - DB Edit Field - Change the field background color based on
the value in the field

What Object: DB Edit Field

Desire: to the background color change based on the value in the column. This
will be a ‘Y’ or an ‘N’.

The DB Edit field has been given a unique component ID. ciLockBox

A custom EEP has been put into the ‘On Enter’ choice

   PROPERTY ciLockBox COLOR 'white'

   RETURN

A custom EEP has been put into the ‘On Exit’ choice

SET VAR vwatch1 TEXT = NULL

   GETPROPERTY cilockbox TEXTVALUE vwatch1

   IF vwatch1 IS NULL THEN

    RETURN

   ENDIF

  IF cilockbox = 'Y' THEN

  PROPERTY cilockbox COLOR 'green'

  ELSE

  PROPERTY cilockbox COLOR 'red'

  ENDIF

  RETURN

This isn’t working. As they say I have hit the wall. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
