Talking about history.

At the time of R:Base 4000 Microsoft did not have its own DBMS and they advised more or less R:base 4000.

In the early 80's Bill Gates once visited us in Deventer, Holland and advised to use R:Base 4000

From that moment on I have been using R:Base

I have stuff dating to my first version of R:Base, I believe it was 4000. Most of the items prior to 2000 are stored in boxes in the garage and everything after that is in my office and my pool room/bar that my ex converted into a storage area. I still have brochures from the start of the micro computer age in the mid ‘70s from companies like Cromemco, Altair and the original Apple and PDP minis from Digital. A lot of history. 😊

Sounds like someone should start an RBase museum (do they have a glass case at RBTI?) and that Javier should donate and get a tax write-off

Now, that's just scary. Where, within the vast Valencia artifact warehouse, did you find those squirreled away?

I just  found a R:Baase key chain on my desk drawer. 😊

I have several boxes with every single disk and manual since
    R:Base 4000 including some add-ons like CLOUT, a primitive
artificial intelligence engine for R:Base, for those of you old
    enough to remember.

Javier: This is fun, you're bringing up memories here!

Okay, it's a slow day, so I decided to pile together all my RBase
merchandise (at least what I can find -- where the heck is my fly
swatter???) and take a pic.  For some reason inserting a pic
doesn't work in my emails to this list, so I'll try attaching it.

My two white t-shirts are in pretty bad shape and have been
delegated to "wear to the barn only" status.  My socks went
bye-bye a long time ago, as did my teal sweatshirt.  Don't
remember there being a back scratcher.

I do have a mug in good shape -- it's blue, not black

I still have a desktop clock, stapler, USB computer light,
portfolio case, shoehorn, polo shirts, t-shirts, ball caps, ball
point pens, pen knife, travelling mug, fly swatter and who can
forget the socks (which were the theme of one of the conferences)
and likely more I don’t remember. Among the ones that lived a full
life and are no longer among us are the back scratcher and the
black acrylic coffee mug which was my favorite and eventually
developed cracks and had to be mercifully put away. A special
mention to the teal sweatshirt that became my all-time most used
sweatshirt and eventually developed more holes and tears I can
count and yet I keep it around in a “retired” status and, together
with the black mug, my two favorite items; I would buy these two
    items if they were available.
