I don't think the VMWare virtual machine has a DOS subsystem, which is not present in the current Win10. You should just Google Virtual or Emulate DOS for Win10 and you will get some helpful direction.
Of course, I am sure any of those emulators would run WITHIN a VMWare framework too, which would also make the testing phase less sketchy for your Win10 install.
