Tip of the Day: ATTACH dBASE files When STATICDB is Enabled
Product.......: R:BASE X.5 and R:BASE X.5 Enterprise (Version 10.5)
Build.........: 10.5.3.20812 or higher
Sections......: Commands/Settings
Keywords......: ATTACH, STATICDB, DETACH, dBASE, Temporary

Did you know that support has been implemented to ATTACH
dBASE files when STATICDB is enabled?

When STATICDB is ON, which activates a read-only schema
mode, and a dBASE file is attached, the file is now added
as a temporary dBASE table to a connected R:BASE database.

The LIST TABLE command will display the temporary dBASE
table name with a "(T)" next to the name.

The temporary dBASE table will be dropped when disconnected
from the database, or if the DETACH command is used.

Just as with other commands that create tables, when STATICDB
is enabled, dBASE tables are created as temporary with or
without the TEMPORARY keyword. Because the database schema
is protected from changes, R:BASE doesn't need to worry that
a user will change the schema in the middle of a series of
commands.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
