Tip of the Day: Assigning Shortcut Keys to Execute Custom Form Actions
Product.......: R:BASE X.5 and R:BASE X.5 Enterprise (Version 10.5)
Build.........: 10.5.3.20812 or higher
Sections......: Form Designer
Keywords......: Custom Form Action, Shortcut Key, Hot Key
Did you know that you can assign a key, key combination, or
a function key to execute any code defined as a Custom Form
Action in forms?
Custom Form Actions allow users to build and store a library
of commonly used routines and launch them on demand. Custom
Form Actions also include keyboard shortcut support, to
run the action when a shortcut key is pressed.
To access the "Action Designer" from the Form Designer,
select "Layout" > "Custom Form Actions..." from the main
menu mar.
Once the Custom Form Action is defined, right click and
select the Shortcut Key menu option. In the dialog, press
any key or key combination to assign the Shortcut Key.
The Custom Form Action code is integrated within the form
itself and will carry over when copying the form. The
"Copy" and "Paste" buttons along the right edge of the
Action Designer support the ability to copy/paste actions
from one form to another.
Once Custom Form Actions are defined, they may be called
by pressing a defined shortcut key or using the PROPERTY
command.
Pressing the [Shift+F5] key combination will launch the
RefreshDashboard action.
The below command launches the VerifyCustomer action:
PROPERTY RBASE_FORM_ACTION VerifyCustomer ' '
Multiple parameters may also be passed when launching
Custom Form Actions with the PROPERTY command:
PROPERTY RBASE_FORM_ACTION VerifyCustomer 'USING 101 PA'
