After several days of much weeping and gnashing of teeth, finally got a resolution on R:Mail and Office365. With John's help at RBTI interpreting the error messages we finally landed on a setting that allowed a decipherable error message in the 365Admin panel. >From Microsoft support; Sign in to the Azure portal as a security administrator, Conditional Access administrator, or global administrator. Browse to Azure Active Directory > Properties. Select Manage security defaults. Set the Enable security defaults toggle to NO Select Save. I hope this helps someone else.
