Dick,
If the printers you are installing on each machine are USB connected and is the only physical printer present, Windows (especially Win 10) will most likely treat them as implicit default (based on the last printer option used), but not explicitly. If they are USB connected, most likely you will only see the one printer at the workstation and essentially you are done other than making them the default printer as suggested. If you see multiple printers because some or all the printers are network connected, I would be sure to make them explicitly defaulted to in the Devices & Printers option. You also should consider renaming the printer connected to the desktop to eliminate future confusion as to which printer is being used, using the Change Printer Properties option. I have run into as many as 5-6 printers in the printers folder, and if they are all the same model, it can be difficult to know where the printer physically is. Other than trial and error, an ID number present in the ICON should be revealed in the Printers Configuration Page from the printer itself. Changing the printer’s name on a particular desktop does not change the name seen by other computers if shown. However, it may be possible to change the printer name by accessing the printer itself, either through its IP address if it is network connected, or through its software interface, if available, and this change will be seen by all. What is the easiest way to assign a different default printer to each machne? Thanks, Dick Fey -- Carpet Broker Inc P-913-894-9211 F-913-894-0138 "A. Razzak Memon" <[email protected]>: Jul 15 10:59AM -0400 Dick, Once the printer is installed and configured as "Default Printer" on each workstation, you don't need to do anything. However, if you wish to show the current default (R:BASE Session Printer), you may define the "On Before Start EEP" with the following variable and place the variable somewhere on your main menu. SET VAR vSessionPrinter TEXT = ('R:BASE Session Printer:'&(CVAL('CURRENTPRINTER'))) RETURN Very Best R:egards, Razzak At 10:49 AM 7/15/2022, Dick Fey wrote: Back to top You received this digest because you're subscribed to updates for this group.
