Tip of the Day: Preventing Empty Break Headers/Footers on Reports
Product: R:BASE 11
Build: 11.0.1.41008 or higher
Section: Reports
Keywords: Breakpoint, Break, Header, Footer, Orphan

Did you know you can prevent empty break headers and break footers from
appearing on reports?

The Prevent Orphans break setting is available to specify whether break
"headers" can print at the bottom of the page without corresponding details and
also whether empty break "footers" can print at the top of the page without
corresponding information.

[cid:[email protected]]

When Prevent Orphans is enabled, empty break headers at the bottom of a page
will be moved to the top of the next page. Empty break footers that would
print alone at the top of a page will have the last detail of the prior page
moved to the top of the page, followed by the break footer.

A breakpoint/break in R:BASE is used to group and sort data. A report can have
up to ten breakpoints.

You can define a corresponding break header and break footer for each defined
breakpoint, which changes each time the breakpoint changes.

Break Headers are useful for grouping a dataset by shared values (e.g.,
products by manufacturer, customer by state, purchases by customer, etc.).
Break footers are useful for displaying subtotals because you can display
variables that are reset to zero at each break.

The R:BASE 11 Report Designer allows users to quickly build attractive,
easy-to-read reports!

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
