Tip of the Day: Using SQL to Launch the BLOB Editor
Product: R:BASE 11
Build: 11.0.2.20415 or higher
Section: Commands
Keywords: RBBEDIT, BLOB Editor, SELECT, SQL
Did you know that you can use a SELECT statement with the RBBEDIT command to
edit BLOB data?
The RBBEDIT command has been enhanced to launch the BLOB Editor, allowing you
to edit BLOB data directly from SQL.
The syntax uses the SQL keyword before the query syntax.
The below opens the BLOB Editor and displays the Contact Photo for ID number
1001:
RBBEDIT '<SQL SELECT ContPhoto FROM Contact WHERE ContID = 1001>'
The feature mimics the behavior of double-clicking a BLOB field in the Data
Browser.
The "Managing BLOBs" From The Edge technical document has been updated to
include the enhanced RBBEDIT command.
