Friday, November 21, 2025 Tip of the Day: Controlling Date/Time Stamps During UNLOAD Rebuilds Product: R:BASE 11 Build: 11.0.3.11120 or higher Section: Settings Keywords: RESET, UNLOAD, Structure, Table, View
R:BASE now provides control over whether tables and views retain their original date/time stamps when rebuilding a database from an UNLOAD operation. A new RESET setting determines whether RESET commands are included in the output generated by UNLOAD commands. The default setting is ON. SET RESET ON|OFF Behavior When RESET Is ON (Default) When unloading table or view structures, the generated CREATE TABLE or CREATE VIEW command is immediately followed by a corresponding RESET command. This command restores the object’s original last-modified timestamp. Example: CREATE TABLE `PaymentTerms` + (`PaymentTerm` TEXT (20)) RESET PaymentTerms LAST_MOD TO '09/05/2025 11:00 AM' With RESET ON, rebuilding a database from UNLOAD output will preserve the original modification timestamps for tables and views. Behavior When RESET Is OFF If you prefer the traditional UNLOAD/rebuild workflow, where tables and views receive the current date/time stamp during rebuild, set RESET to OFF before issuing UNLOAD ALL or UNLOAD STRUCTURE. With RESET OFF, all RESET commands are omitted from the generated UNLOAD output.
