I am not real familiar with USB, although I do have a 4 port hub on my PC and use it all the time. I have checked with one manufacturer that made a keyboard wedge reader that had a USB interface and was very reasonably priced. It would do everything I wanted, except I could not attach more than one unit. They told me that the keyboard buffer would not handle 2 or 3 simultaneous swipes without the risk of losing data. I.E. If two readers were swiped at the same time, a PC keyboard buffer may overflow. I still may still test this method, but wanted to explore if anyone had experience in the field. I probably need to do some research on USB technology. In my particular case, I would not even have to identify which swipe made the input. I would have one process running and simply rotate the quandrant display on the screen. I.E. the first swipe show in the upper left and set a variable flag so that the next swipe display would be upper right and so on. The fifth swipe would clear the upper left display and start the process over again. If any one knows how to read direct USB ports or if there is a way of insuring that the keyboard buffer would not over flow, I think I would be in business! I appreciate the responses. While I look forward to Ver. 7 and hopefully having some jobs that I can purchase it for, I need to get a quote out on this job right away so I cannot wait on a future release at this time. Then, just open 4 sessions of R:Base in the PC, one for each swipe terminal (as license is per seat rather than by session/user, it should not be a problem) the multi-user capabilities should allow you to access the database with more than one terminal at a time. The trick is identifying each swipe terminal uniquely and assigning a session/quadrant to it.
