Clive, R:Syntax says: FOR n Sets the pause duration in seconds; n must be a positive integer. Any keystroke interrupts the pause, regardless of duration. In the absence of a USING clause, no message is displayed. With a USING clause, the message is displayed in a Windows dialog box.
Actually, I think that I remember 3 being the minimum, too, but I'm not sure that it wasn't just the way the manual was written in those days that made it look that way.
