I didn't mean to make Laura feel foolish. It wasn't "Laura's steps," it was some virus prankster's steps. Virus and hoax perpetrators can sometimes be very clever about making their advice appear legitimate. Bill O. is right, list servers are one way to check out, verify and communicate about threats, both real and phony.
