I do not think this is version-specific. There is something else
causing the runaway growth in file 3.

Technically, what exactly changed in the latter location since the
problem was not present there the entire time?
Were the two sites identical at any point when one site was behaving
like this and the other was not? The reason being is that we need to
rule out the logic of the application before looking into the programmatic
issues.
I personally am curious to the source of this one!
