This has been running at several sites for nearly two years w/o a
problem. They are all still using the same runtime version (as Dr
R> will attest to <g>). The apx did undergo some major additions
and rewrites this last year, so that is where I suspect the problem
lies, but I don't understand why. This routine is only run for a few
months at the beginning of the year, so I'm not surprised this didn't
show up until now.

Yes

This solves the problem... mostly. The routine runs fine now on the
Win98 machine I have access to with pcAnywhere. There is a
Win2000 machine on which there are still problems... but I suspect
there must be another issue. I'll learn more tomorrow.

This works fine even if pkUnzip is not set to read only.

understand what happen
When run by zipping out of RBase, and pkUnzip not set to read
only, I just get an "error in exe" error. This occurs _after_ the
routine has been run one time... so the file is corrupted after
pkUnzip has extracted the target zip file.

I'm using NT4 server. My customer uses Win98 and W2k on an
NT4 network.
