Hi,
(I think I sent this to another user rather than the list the first time. Sorry)
As an old time R:Base developer still using the DOS Version 45++ and with several old reliable fast printers that still work, I faced the problem with WinDOwS print drivers.
My solution was to output any (Report, Label, other) to a text file and print.
In the event I wanted to get fancy fonts, I would load the text file into my handy WinDOwS word processor and "fix" it up with fonts, etc.
This worked for my extensive contact list that I print as a booklet to carry in my briefcase as well as printing an extensive set of mailing labels on some old pin feed labels for a political candidate that supported and worked for in the last election.
I have also found that I can use the DOS command to print (route) the text file to a printer with TYPE filename.txt >prn. This command does not work reliably from 45++ with WinDOwS, but work fine in DOS mode.
Very handy when I do not want to pay 4 cents per page nor wait on a slow WinDOwS printer. Reinking ribbons is still very cheap.
