No, the ASC X12N 837 is for electronic claim submission. The 834 will be used by dentists, physicians, hospital and other health care providers to determine whether they will be paid by a health plan or have to collect $ for services directly from the patient. Stuff like eligibility, coverage, authorization, etc.
