Bernard
On your laptop: is the XP an upgrade? Or a clean, new install?
I have had proplem some months ago with the upgrade XP even if I dont recall
the error message, but a clean XP install resolved the problem

Mike,
Walla! it works now!!
After removing rnbovdd.dll from the registry and it still didn't work, I
uninstalled rbdos65 and reinstalled.
I then made sure it worked, then I reinstalled acrobat reader and it still
works. Thanks for the clue.
If anyone else needs to do this, I saved the instructions for removing
rnbovdd.dll
