Under XP all my R:Base DOS apps use the following:
 Properites:

Shortcut: points to a batch file which does the path setting making sure
THIS version of R:Base is first in the path. Here's an example from my PC:
NOTE the C:\RBTI\RBDOS65 (this runs 6.5++) in the first path and it is NOT
there in the second:

PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Adaptec Shared\System;C:\RBTI\RBDOS65;C:\PKZIP;C:\Program
Files\Symantec\pcAnywhere\;"C:\Program Files\PKWARE\PKZIPC\"
RBASE65 -R
PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Adaptec
Shared\System;C:\RBTI\RBWIN65;C:\RBTI\RSCOPE65;C:\PKZIP;C:\Program
Files\Symantec\pcAnywhere\;"C:\Program Files\PKWARE\PKZIPC\"
EXIT

Under SHortcut, I use Normal Window

Under Options:

Cursor size: small
Display Options: Full Screen
Buffer size 50
Number of buffers 4
Edit Options: insert mode

Under Font: defaults

Under Layout:

Screen Buffer Size: Width 80, height 25
Window Size: Width 80, Height 25

Let system position window checked

Under Colors: default

Under COmpatibility - nothing checked.

This works great for all R:Base DOS apps

Michael,

You should not have any problems running RB Dos in a 2000 Environment.
Although I can not speak for RB 6.1a, We have been running RB 6.5++ for DOS
on Win2K machines for years now with no problems. What I do do is to
define/add enviroment variables of BUFFERS 60 and FILES 60 in the SYSTEM
PROPERTIES-ADVANCED-ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES-SYSTEM VARIABLES Also make sure
user TEMP and TMP variables are defined. You might also find it helpful to
add the location of the RBase folder in the path system variable if you are
using it on a network ALONG with the network drives of the databases you
mapped.
And finally if you are trying to print to network printers you need to
capture them to a local port (LPT1, 2, ect.) by using the NET USE command.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - R:Base DOS 6.1axRT01 running under Windows 2000,
problems?

Hi all,

I have a client using R:Base 6.1a DOS (32-bit), U.S. Version, Build
6.1axRT01 on Windows 98 to use an R:Base application written years ago. I
am in the process of a complete re-write of the application in R:Base for
Windows but it is not quite ready yet and her Windows 98 is beginning to
have problems (crashing in the late mornings and afternoons) and the IT
staff want to move to Windows 2000.

>From your experiences, are there likely to be any issues with the NT
operating system and R:Base for DOS with regards to printers or other areas?
Are the issues resolvable or should they tuff it out with 98 for another
month or two until the Windows R:Base program is ready to go?

Thanks for the input!
Michael
