Does anyone have anything to offer on this problem?

We are currently using three versions of R:Base as development environments (mostly fixing old stuff with two).  These are 6.5++ for DOS, 6.5++ for Windows, and 7.0 for Windows.  In each environment when trying to access files (i.e. Delete) long file names are not recognized if and only if the filesystem is on a Netware volume.  If the data is local or on a Windows share, these files are completely usable.  I can share some examples if it would do any good.

All three versions have been tested on three systems, 2 running Win2k and one NT 4.0.  In all cases, a command line 'DOS' window displayed the files as expected.  The dir command in R:Base for Windows displayed 9 characters of the long filename with no extension.  In R:Base for DOS, these files were ommitted.

We have had our Netware patches updated and have tested the drives with no errors.  One possibility is that a character setting is incorrect.  Is there a setting that might affect the system this way?

Thanks for wading through this.  All help, as always, is greatly appreciated.  Maybe we'll write a song about the answer-ers.
