J.M. In the past I have printed reports from DOS 4.5++, WIN95 that were several hundred pages long through the parallel port without any problems (mostly to HP Laserjets). I believe that DOS 4.5++ was/is the most stable version of R:Base ever, so I am inclined to think it is the printer buffer that has an overflow problem as many have indicated. The suggested workaround would be to print it to a file and then from the C:> prompt, the R: prompt, command prompt or using the ZIP command or ZIP ROLLOUT command, copy the file to the printer: COPY file.dat LPT1 If you still have problems you can use one of many freeware packages that will segment the file into several smaller files and print them the smaller files one at a time; again, you can probably run all these commands from within a R:Base command file. Make sure that when you configure the parallel port, you have "Spool MS-DOS print jobs" and "Check port state before printing" under "Port Settings" checked. Javier,

GRATIAS Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 8:52 AM To: RBASE-L Mailing List Subject: [RBASE-L] - Report printing is limited to 40 pages Hi all, I have a client running a DOS 4.5++ app writen 10 years ago on a old standalone HP Vectra W95 with a new multifunction printer HP 3330mfp using parallel port. Works OK, except for report printing. When printing a long report (more than 40 pages), an error occurs and the end of the printing is lost. He try to change spool setting (print directly on the printer, RAW format, lower resolution ....) but nothing helped .... Any idea ? TIA J.M. GRATIAS, Logimatique
