From the Edge: Designing Menu-Driven Applications
Section: Designing and Deploying R:BASE 7.0 Applications
Chapter: Running R:BASE Your Way!
Platform: R:BASE 7.0 for Windows
Build: 7.0.65.21104 and higher

Now that you have a pretty good idea about the Next
Generation R:BASE 7.0 for Windows, its new interface,
wizards, designers and all the built-in tools, and
you have converted and/or designed new forms, reports
and labels, updated all command files and EEPs to take
advantage of new and enhanced commands, the biggest
challenge is how to put all these together in a
menu-driven application. Right? Well, no worries.

R:BASE 7.0 for Windows introduces many different ways
of designing and deploying custom applications with a
new look and feel. There are at least five different
options available in R:BASE 7.0 for Windows to design
and implement state-of-the-art applications:

. Using Application Designer
. Using Design Menu Bar option in Form Designer
. Using TreeView Control in Form Designer
. Using Drop-Down Menu Button Control in Form Designer
. Using Shape Button Control in Form Designer

Each option provides various possibilities and has its
own look and feel. Technically, there are no advantages
to using one style over the other. It is just a matter
of user and developer preference.

This document will provide you with a quick overview
and samples of all five options available in R:BASE 7.0
for Windows and is not intended to be a tutorial or
step-by-step instructions on how (that will come soon).

Running R:BASE Your Way! (Part 4), the Grand Finale
Application, described in this document, is also intended
to help our developers, users and especially the *new*
members of R:BASE community who have taken the challenge
to switch from OTHER application development environments
to R:BASE 7.0 for Windows.
