I'm using Windows XP PRO.

I tried what you suggested and I got "Insufficient memory to load
Protected Mode R:Base".

I have been using Bill Downall's suggested cmd file method (which
works for me) but thought I should try your suggested "inverse of what
many developers have done" and get up to date. Sorry I didn't succeed.

Is it also necessary to put the path to RBASE65.EXE if AUTOEXEC.NT?

This is because your PATH statement does not include the C:\RBTI\RBDOS65
directory.

You need to right-click My Computer, select Properties and go to the Advanced
or Environment tab to edit the System Variables. Make sure to work with the
System variables and not the User variables. These are in the lower portion of
the screen. You need to add the following variables if they are not already there:

Variable Name: FILES
Variable Value: 60

Variable Name: BUFFERS
Variable Value: 60

Then, edit the PATH variable to include the C:\RBTI\RBDOS65 directory. Make sure to
include a semi-colon between the values.

This should resolve that issue. Do not use AUTOEXEC or CONFIG.SYS files for these
settings. These are handled differently in Windows 2000 and XP now, and you need to
use the GUI.
